Club Barbeque 2010

26 July 2010

For the third year in a row the Dutch contingent of tennis players, supporters and family chose Radley College as the venue for their annual pilgrimage in search of the King of Sports.  After a week of real tennis, golf and various other activities and outings, events were concluded in traditional fashion with a barbeque at the College cricket pavilion on Wednesday 18 August.

Our visitors welcomed members to share the climax of their visit. Results were discussed, old rivalries rekindled, revenge sought and new challenges made; there was also a bar but more of that later.

Chris Ronaldson and a band of club members prepared and managed the barbeque and bar with the efficiency of court bookings. No hint of need for an online burger, banger, bun and beer booking system. Special mentions of thanks to James and Kathryn McNicoll for all of the preparation and for their industry during the evening, to Graham Hopes for his sterling performance cooking up a treat and to Julia Kettle for stepping up to the bar to help the occasion to flow.

Members and guests consumed a vast quantity of wine (and relatively little beer).  The Dutch know how to enjoy themselves.  As you will see from the photographic evidence, club members played their part to help reduce the Radley wine lake.
